Cherryville farms is a 30 acre facility/home site located in Santa Fe, Texas
and is owned by John & Cindy Cherry. We have been in reptiles for over 26 years.
We started keeping reptiles (as individuals) as teenagers and after we married in 1971,
we established a wholesale animal import company that serviced mainly private
collectors and pet shops (breeding in those days was nearly unheard of).
We closed the import business in 1978 and began private breeding only.
Currently we house approximately 380 reptiles in our current collection.
Many of the animals we keep are not high dollar collector type animals and are
kept because we like that particular animal no matter what it's retail value is.
Of course we also have selectively bred animals that are collector type and these
command higher dollars in that market. On our list you should find something for
everyone (beginner or experienced collector), because of this approach.
We also breed and raise a number of other types of exotic animals such as ostrich,
EMU, spider monkeys, miniature horses, various water fowl and African hoof stock.
These are also an important part of our lives here in Santa Fe. From a customer's stand point probably the most important fact is that we do not depend on the animal business to provide our family income. John owns a very successful Environmental company. Therefore we are capable of always doing what is best for the animals and the customers with very little regard for the bottom line. Unfortunately we have known a lot of "professionals " that have let the bottom line effect their handling of their animals and customers. And this always ends up destroying the reason most herper's started keeping herps in the first place. All of our animals are fed diets that encourage maximum growth and quality from the time of birth till they are shipped to you for your continued pleasure. We have some animals that are long term captives/members of the breeding colony and of course we are all-ways starting new breeding projects as they become of interest to us. So our breeders inventory is always changing. All customers are encouraged to follow up after their purchases with comments and suggestions so that we can continue to make Cherryville Farms a premier example of what is right about the reptile industry. Information on husbandry and general species is always available as needed. If we don't know the answers, I bet we can refer you to someone who does. The slogan that we use is an attempt to state in very few words our approach to the hobby. It also represents the wide range of knowledge we have from exposure to an array of different types of animals over the last 36 years. If you have need of information, we keep close contact with breeders of many types of animals, reptiles and birds from years gone by.
